How Can You Tell If There Are Termites In A Wall?

It is said that termites play a very vital role in maintaining the balance of nature and in assisting in the natural processes of the ecosystem. Studies have shown that termites help improve the quality of soil by fertilizing it with bits of wood that they break down. Unbeknownst to many, termites are actually a major contributor in enhancing the lives of other animals. Now try to tell that facts to a person who just found out that his house is practically ravaged by several colonies of termites.

It can turn out to be an unadulterated nightmare coming to life, finding out too late that termites have waged a massive attack on your precious abode for years right under your own very nose. There is certainly nothing remotely funny that you'll be able to laugh about if you find yourself in this predicament.

The key advantage of termites over human beings is its sheer ability to infest a structure without being detected for many years. This is mainly because termites are capable of remaining hidden within the wood, which make it all the more difficult to discover their presence. So how can you tell if there are termites in a wall? More often than not, if there are some termite activities behind the wall there are a number of things that can clue you in. However, most people don't pay particular attention to the telltale signs of termites until it's too late or the colony has grown into such unmanageable number.

Still, the question remains in the minds of most people, 'how can you tell if there are termites in a wall'? An infested wall would have some sandy holes, knocking the wall would help you detect if the wood is actually hollow from the termite attacks. It would also be advisable to be on a constant lookout for moist patches. Some people would simply shrug it off as just a roof leak. You should know better and make some quick investigations before writing it off as something that is not a cause of concern.

The funny thing is although many people ask incessantly the question 'how can you tell if there are termites in a wall?' they don't even know how to tell termites apart ants. Many people actually confuse termites for white ants, unknowingly they play an ignorant and willing hosts to the pesky critters determine to bore holes on every wood in the house. So before you pose the question 'how can you tell if there are termites in a wall?' you better be well equipped enough to distinguish the difference between the two. Early detection is the best counter measure that you'll have against the creepy creatures behind your walls.
